Build ac5857cb5d — quote this if something is wrong and I will know exactly which version you are looking at.

Record — your playing, through the mic. One bar of count-in, click only, stops itself on the bar line. The take is pulled back by your device's measured mic delay so it sits on the beat; calibrate in Inspector for the exact number.

Play chords — no mic: the app plays the changes on a Rhodes.

Use headphones when you record, so the mic captures only your guitar and not the click. Both loops are the same length, so a take and your changes can run together.

Instrument

Feel

How the bar is counted. 7/8 as 2+2+3 is “1-2, 1-2, 1-2-3” — the first beat of each group is accented, so an odd meter has a shape instead of just a number. Tap any beat bar to adjust by hand.

2 & 4 is the backbeat — where a drummer's snare lands, and the first thing to practice swing against. Downbeat gives you one click a bar, so you carry the rest of the time yourself. & clicks the upbeats only — nothing on the beat, just the “and” between them, so you have to hold the pulse yourself while the click lands where you don't. It needs eighths, so it moves the subdivision there if you're on quarters.

Off by default, and it should stay off while you are checking your time — this deliberately nudges each click off the grid. Turn it up only when you want the click to breathe like a drummer.

100%
Drop the click

It plays two bars, then leaves you alone for two. The only way to find out whether the time is yours.

Trade fours

The groove drops out every four bars and hands it back. You keep the form, like trading with a drummer.

Let it breathe

Drops notes at random so the click stops being a machine and you have to listen. Every note plays them all · Ghost notes thins it · Leaves space thins it more. This is the whole groove at once — dragging a beat bar up in Pulse does the same thing to one beat at a time.

Practise with your own click — a woodblock, a rimshot, whatever you actually use. Short one-shots only; it stays on this device and is never uploaded.

Renders the pattern above exactly as it plays — click, groove, your own sound if it's loaded — to a WAV file you can drop into a DAW or share.

Not calibrated — “ms off” and ahead/behind stay blank, because they’d be your audio latency, not your playing.
Play with the click in your headphones so the mic hears only you. Tighter cluster = tighter time.

Setlist

An ordered routine — count-in, then the ladder, then gap bars. It plays straight through, moving itself on after each step’s bars. Send it as one link and it opens ready to play.
